SeedSpark transformed a time-consuming and labor-intensive scheduling process into a custom web and mobile application solution, leading to improved communication between workers in the field, contractors, and leadership to drive resource utilization to new heights.
Increase in Resource Utilization
Decrease in Scheduling Time
Charlotte Paint Company has built a reputation as an industry-leading paint contractor in the Carolinas for over 40 years. Their professionalism, quality painting, and specialty coating services have earned contracts ranging from the Carolina Panther’s stadium to many of the high-rise hotels along the Carolina coast.
SeedSpark was asked to review and assist in developing strategies focused on creating a more efficient scheduling process for Charlotte Paint. The level of importance that Charlotte Paint placed on getting the job done correctly, on time, and within budget was immediately apparent. Schedulers began each day at 4:30 am by reviewing the previous day’s production before structuring the new day’s work by hand using magnetic whiteboards and labels. While the process was almost a work of art, it was also time-consuming and labor-intensive.
A Custom Solution for Increased Efficiency
SeedSpark began the project with a discovery phase, investing time with each key stakeholder and documenting the existing workflow processes to innovate and develop new solutions. By learning the intricacies of the previous system, SeedSpark developed a custom web application that was easily adopted and implemented by the Charlotte Paint team.
While the look and operation of the new application are similar in many ways to the legacy process, automation greatly reduced the time required to communicate the schedule to the team members in the field, sub-contractors, and leadership. Charlotte Paint reports that resource utilization has increased by over 20% while also seeing a 50% reduction in the time required to complete the scheduling process. The entire project was completed within 6 months, from initial discovery to deploying a final application build – and that was just the beginning of Charlotte Paint’s digital transformation.
The Digital Transformation Continuum
Since the initial project, SeedSpark and Charlotte Paint Company’s partnership in technology integration has grown. By leveraging the right amount of technology and business process optimization, automated purchase orders, invoice verification, mobile timekeeping, and project tracking have all seen large improvements.
Recently, Charlotte Paint chose SeedSpark to handle all managed IT services for their offices in the Carolinas, providing a proactive approach to Cybersecurity, Cloud Enablement, and Business Continuity. As with all Digital Transformation partnerships, it’s a journey. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Charlotte Paint to continue building on their top-class reputation.
