SSI Schaefer is one of the world’s largest total solutions providers and components manufacturers in automated systems, storage and distribution, workstation, logistics software, and waste technology. SeedSpark worked with their waste technology division to develop a proprietary encoding process for RFID tags, WISTAR, placed inside of their existing manufacturing process.
The technology and data warehousing capabilities were not in place for companies and municipalities to track the lifecycle of a waste and recycling cart. As the carts moved from manufacturing, to distribution, to the local purchaser, and then to a local end-user, this process was not tracked, making it difficult to gather or change information in the field for maintenance reasons or waste management carrier changes. Ultimately, this cost the waste management industry and government thousands in lost revenue.
An application, a scanner, and a business process that makes it possible to organize and edit all data at any point in the lifecycle - in real time - and the ability to track carts as they are deployed
SSI Schaefer and SeedSpark collaborated to develop the first complete life cycle managment program for waste and recycling assets, WISTAR.
WISTAR begins in manufacturing - leveraging proprietary RFID encoding - providing a foundation for data integrity; it follows the asset throught its entire lifecycle. WISTAR is powered through a comprehensive web portal that enables extensive reporting and enhanced visbility to all deployed and inventoried assets on demand.
SSI SCHAEFER's WISTAR technology successfully mangages over 2.5 million waste and recycling carts through the US and Canada with a 99.99% RFID and GPS cart deployment accuracy rate. WISTAR continues to be enhanced, enabiling municipalities and private haulers to effectively mangae all assets with real-time visibility and capture lost revenue, while maximizing their efficiency.
